We are a coalition of Christian congregations working in collaborative efforts with other area organizations and agencies to provide assistance to the under-served population in the Brazosport area.
We offer the following services:
-
•Needs Assessment: each client is screened to decide how best to meet their immediate and long term needs
-
•Social Services: Our initial focus is to provide rent and utility assistance to those who qualify.
-
•Resource Link: The client will be connected to other available resources through a referral system. He/she will be given a plan of action to assist him/her in becoming more self-sufficient.
We currently serve Brazosport residents only. Applicants must bring a completed application package and bring all listed documentation, in order to be screened for assistance. Application packages are available at The Dream Center and Willow Drive Baptist Church. Monday-Thursday 9:00-4:00. Needs are met through direct assistance from River of Hope and/or referrals to other local organizations.
History
River of Hope is an initiative of the Brazosport Ministerial Alliance that was created following hurricane Katrina. After witnessing the great need and the success in which the different churches came together within the community, efforts were focused on continuing the alliance.
In June of 2007 River of Hope opened at the Dream Center in Clute and began assisting with rent and utilities of people who had experienced a financial crisis in the past 4 months. In addition to providing financial assistance, River of Hope also works to refer the clients to the other available resources through a referral system.
It is River of Hope’s goal to move these people beyond their financial crisis and help them become self-sufficient.
River of Hope is incorporated as a nonprofit organization and has tax exempt status under section 501(c)3 of United States Internal Revenue Service Code.
